Pain, anxiety and stress get worse when patients focus on them. The response is often to use more pharmaceutical sedation or to opt for general anaesthesia altogether. However, this results in longer treatment times, increased risk and higher costs.

In the anaesthesia department at Kreiskrankenhaus Schrobenhausen, the effect of the HappyMed Video Glasses was studied in 88 patients over a period of 5 months.

In over 80% of procedures, the treatment team assessed that sedatives could be partially or even completely reduced.
Due to the hospital's structure, the glasses were used in over 80% of procedures, mainly with older patients (>50 years). Although the glasses are a highly technical product, it became clear that even patients with little affinity for technology can use the video glasses without any problems.
From the staff's perspective, the decision to introduce video glasses in the Department of Anaesthesiology was beneficial. Staff reported that the video glasses greatly enriched their work and mentioned many advantages in terms of patient comfort and savings on sedative medication.
